CCG aims to serve the underdeveloped world with a keen focus on the African Great Lakes and Horn of Africa regions that include countries like Uganda, Burundi, DRC, CAR, Somalia, Sudan and Chad.
The Horn of Africa and Great Lakes Region hosted about 5 million refugees/asylum-seekers over 70% of which were housed in Uganda, Sudan, and Ethiopia (UNHCR, 2022). In addition, these parts of the world are projected to be home to at least 23.6 million displaced and stateless people by the end of 2024 (UNCHR, 2024).
This points to an increased need for development assistance and aid in these places to help refugees meet the basic requirements as well help them settle in their new temporary homes.
In addition, the ongoing civil war in Sudan has led to at least 25 million people who include 14 million to be in urgent need for humanitarian assistance (UN/OHCHR, 2024). This implies a dire need for humanitarian assistance in the region and the services CCG offers can contribute to addressing such desperate situations in the region.
In absolute terms, Canada was the sixth (6th) largest donor worldwide in 2022 and the country intends to progressively increase its Official Development Assistance (ODA) until 2030 (Donor Tracker, n.d.). These underpin the country’s commitment to global development through assistance, a mission that CCG is intent on facilitating.
